He is a jurist and hadith, and the founder of the Maliki Mazhab.

Abu abdullah Malik bin Anas bin Malik bin Abi Amirbin Amr bin al-Haris bin Ghaiman bin Jutsail binAmr bin al-Haris Dzi Ashbah. Imam malik was born in Medina al Munawwaroh. whereas in the case of his birth year there is a historical difference. al-Yafii in his book Thabaqat fuqoha records that the second priest was born in 94 H. ibn Khalik and others hold that the second priest was born in 95 H. whereas. Imam al-Dzahabi narrates the birth priest was born 90 H. Imam yahya bin bakir narrates that he heard malik say: "I was born in 93 H". and this is the most accurate history (according to al-Sam'ani and ibn farhun) [3].
He compiled the book of Al Muwaththa ', and in his compilation he spent 40 years, during which time he appeared to 70 scholars of the Medina.

The book compiles 100,000 hadiths, and Al Muwaththa 'recounts more than a thousand people, so the manuscript is completely different and has a total of 30 manuscripts, but only 20 are known. And most notable is the history of Yahya bin Yahyah al Laitsi al Andalusi al Mashmudi.

A number of 'Scholars argue that the source of the hadith has seven, namely Al Pole as Sittah plus Al Muwaththa.' There are scholars who have designated Sunan ad Darimi instead of Al Muwaththa. ' While writing this great book, Ibn Hazm said, "Al Muwaththa" is a book about fiqh and hadith, I do not know the comparison.

The Traditions contained in Al Muwaththa 'are not all Musnad, some are Mursal, mu'dlal and munqathi. Some 'ulama count it 600 600 hadith, 222 mursal hadith, 613 mauquf hadith, 285 words sa'in, besides that there are 61 hadiths with no backers, it is said to have come to me "and" from the believer ", but the hadith is from another path that is not the path of the Imam himself, therefore Ibn Abdil Bar an Namiri opposes the compilation of the book which seeks to paraphrase the hadiths of the holy, munqathi 'and mu'halith found in Al Muwaththa' Malik.

Imam Malik received the hadith of 900 people (teachers), 300 from the Tabi'in and 600 from the side of the temple, he narrated the hadiths from Nu'main al Mujmir, Zaib bin Aslam, Nafi ', Syarik bin Abdullah, az Zuhry, Abi az Ziyad, Sa'id al Maqburi and Humaid ath Thawil, his last students being Hudzafah as Sahmi al Anshari.

There are others such as al Auza'i., Ats Tsauri, Sufyan bin Uyainah, Al Laits bin Sa'ad, Ibn Juraij and Sha'bah bin Hajjaj. Adapula who learned from him such as Assy Safi'i, Ibn Wahb, Ibn Mahdi, al Qaththan and Abi Ishaq.

Among his teachers were Nafi 'bin Abi Nu'aim, Nafi' al Muqbiri, Na'imul Majmar, Az Zuhri, Amir bin Abdullah bin Az Zubair, Ibnul Munkadir, Abdullah bin Dinar, and others. and among his disciples were Ibnul Mubarak, Al Qoththon, Ibn Mahdi, Ibn Wahb, Ibn Qosim, Al Qo'nabi, Abdullah bin Yusuf, Sa'id bin Manshur, Yahya bin Yahya al Andalusi, Yahya bin Bakir, Qutaibah Abu Mush'ab , Al Auza'i, Sufyan Ats Tsaury, Sufyan bin Uyainah, Imam Shafi'i, Abu Hudzafah as Sahmi, Az Zubairi, and others.

The Book of Al-Muwaththa

Al-Muwaththa means 'agreed upon' or 'alimony' or 'guide' which deals with the science and laws of Islamic religion. Al-Muwaththa is a book that contains hadith collected by Imam Malik as well as the opinions of friends and scholars of tabiin. The book is complete with various religious problems which include the hadith, fiqh and so on. All of the hadiths are authentic because Imam Malik is known for his strong character in accepting a hadith. He was very careful when filtering, isolating, and discussing and rejecting dubious history. Of the 100,000 hadiths he memorized, only 10,000 were legally recognized and out of those 10,000, only 5,000 were confirmed by him after researching and comparing the Quran. According to a history, Imam Malik spent 40 years collecting and refining hadiths received from his teachers. Imam Syafii once said, "There is no book on this earth after al-Qur`an contains more truth than the book of Al-Muwaththa by Imam Malik, this is the writings of the ancient scholars."

End of life

In the wake of his death, Imam Malik was asked why he had not been to the Nabawi Mosque for seven years, and replied, "If it had not been for the end of my life on earth, and the beginning of my life hereafter, I would not have told you this. What prevents me from doing all this is that I often have to pee, which is why I am not able to attend the Prophet's Mosque. And, I do not like to mention my illness, because I worry that I will always complain to God. ”Imam Malik started sick on Sunday until 22 days and died on Sunday, the 10th Rabbi Awwal 179 Hijriyyah or 800 Miladiyyah.
The people of Medina carry out the will that they convey, which is wrapped in white cloth, and passed over the coffin. His funeral priest was Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Ibrahim al-Hasyimi who was the governor of Medina. The governor of Medina came for a walk, including one who took part in lifting his body to his grave. He was buried in Baqi Cemetery, 'and all his disciples buried him.
Information on his suffering spread throughout the Islamic State, they were deeply saddened and deeply missed, praying for him to be endowed with abundant blessings and rewards thanks to the knowledge and charity he offered to Islam.
